British reissue. Led Zeppelin III is the third studio album by the British rock band Led Zeppelin, released on October 5, 1970 by Atlantic Records. It became one of the band's least-sold albums and received mixed reviews from critics at the time of its release. In a review by the music weekly Melody Maker, it was said that the band members decided to use an acoustic guitar because the folk-rock band Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young had already used this instrument before. Later reviews were mostly positive. Q magazine reviewed the album positively, giving it a maximum rating of five stars and choosing the epithet "rotating carousel" for Led Zeppelin; in 2004, LZ III was ranked 9th in Q magazine's list of the 50 best British albums. The album also received five stars on Allmusic. LZ III has repeatedly been included in the lists of the best albums compiled by various critics. Mojo magazine included it in the list of the 100 best albums (99th position). In the list of the 1000 best albums of all time by Colin Larkin, the album got the 361st place. Classic Rock magazine in 2006 compiled a list of the 100 greatest British rock albums, in which LZ III was ranked 31st.
