John Barleycorn Must Die is the fourth studio album by the British rock band Traffic, recorded between February and April 1970 and released in July of the same year by Island Records in the United Kingdom, United Artists Records in the United States and Polydor Records in Canada. It reached #5 on the Billboard 200 and received the status of gold (the first" golden disc " of the group). The single "Empty Pages" from this album reached #74 on the Billboard Hot 100. In the musicians ' homeland, in the UK, the album reached #11 in the UK Albums Chart.
