Into the Great Wide Open is the eighth Studio album by rock band Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, released in 1991. Like the solo album Petty-Full Moon Fever, Into the Great Wide Open was produced by fellow Traveling Wilburys musician and Electric Light Orchestra leader Jeff Lynne. The album was quite successful, going gold in Germany and Switzerland, platinum in the UK and Sweden, and 2×multi-platinum in Canada and the US. The songs "Out In the Cold", "Learning To Fly", "King's Highway" and "Into the Great Wide Open" reached the top positions on the Mainstream Rock chart. The music video for the latter starred Johnny Depp, who had free time on the set of the movie" Arizona dream " by Emir Kusturica.
