A rare British original. Bob Downes (born Robert George Downes on 22 July 1937 in Plymouth) is an English avant - garde jazz flautist and saxophonist. The first album was released in 1969 on Philips Records, was recognized as number one among jazz flautists, and created his own label, Openian. He has played with The John Barry 7, pop singer Chris Andrews, Manfred Mann's Earth Band, and Jimmy Nicol Band. In 1968, he became the founder of the OPEN MUSIC TRIO. In the 70s, he was a member of Barry Guy's London Jazz Composers Orchestra, played with Mike Westbrook Band and The Keith Tippett Band. He writes a lot for theater and television. Electric City is an album released in 1970.
