The Princess Bride is the fourth soundtrack album by British singer, songwriter and guitarist Mark Knopfler, released on November 12, 1987 on the international label Vertigo Records and Warner Bros. Records in the USA. The album contains music written for the 1987 film The Princess Bride directed by Rob Reiner. The album includes the song "Storybook Love", written and performed by Willy DeVille and arranged by Mark Knopfler. In 1988, the song was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Mark Freuder Knopfler is a British singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer. He became known as the lead guitarist, singer and songwriter of the rock band Dire Straits. He embarked on a solo career after the band first broke up in 1988. Dire Straits reunited in 1990, but broke up again in 1995. He is now an independent solo artist.
