Idlewild South is the second album by American southern rock band the Allman Brothers Band. Produced by Tom Dowd, the album was released on September 23, 1970 in the United States by Atco Records and Capricorn Records. After the release of their debut album, the Allman Brothers Band embarked on an intensive US tour to promote the album, which found little commercial success. Their performances nevertheless sparked a good rumor that reached such famous musicians as Eric Clapton, who invited band leader Duane Allman to participate in the recording of his 1970 album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs.
