Harvey Averne (b. 1936, Brooklyn, new York) has been described as "one of several prominent Jewish-Americans at a noisy scene Latin music in new York." Himself a prolific songwriter (recorded over fifty of his songs), Averne wrote most of the material for his newly formed group "the Harvey Averne Dozen". The second album for the Fania label, under the name "Harvey Averne Dozen", included songs Averne: "Accept Me", "Can You Dig" and the international dance hit "Never Learned to Dance", "Lullaby from Rosemary's Baby"
