It was first released in Japan on October 4, 1996 on Mercury Records with 11 tracks and in the United States on October 15, 1996 on Mayhem Records, but with only 10 tracks. The album, with an admixture of doom metal and industrial, is considered one of Dio's heaviest and darkest works.
