Edward Hammond Boatner Jr. (February 2, 1924 — July 22, 1982), professionally known as Sonny Stitt, was an American jazz saxophonist who played in the bebop/hard bop style. Known for his warm tone, he was one of the most famous saxophonists of his generation, recording more than 100 albums. Jazz critic Dan Morgenstern nicknamed him "The Lone Wolf" because of his relentless touring and dedication to jazz, but he rarely worked with the same musicians for long periods.
