European original. Sting in the Tail is the seventeenth studio album by the German rock band Scorpions . It was released on March 19, 2010 in Europe (March 14 in Greece) and March 23 in North America. At the time, it was a farewell album released before their farewell tour. The band members explained that the sound of the album would be similar to the sound of classic releases of the 80s, but with a modern touch. The album features a duet on the song "The Good Die Young" with Finnish symphonic metal singer Tarja Turunen, best known as the former vocalist of Nightwish. Sales for the first week in the United States totaled 18,500 copies, which put the album at number 23 on the Billboard 200 chart. In Germany, the album debuted at the 2nd place, but in the second week it dropped to the 3rd, in France to the 16th and in Greece to the 1st. The album also reached #2 on the Billboard Rock Charts. It was initially reported that the Get Your Sting and Blackout world tour in support of the album was the band's last tour, but this turned out not to be the case. In later interviews given after the start of the tour, at least two band members (Klaus Meine and Matthias Jabs) stated that the band was not going to stop touring and was actually working on new material.
