Dutch original. Metallica is the fifth studio album by the American metal band of the same name, released on August 12, 1991, also known as The Black Album. The album debuted at the top of the US Billboard 200 chart with 598,000 copies sold in the first week, in total, marking the Top 10 charts in about 15 more countries, including the first places in the charts of the UK, Germany, France and Australia. In total, about 31 million copies of Metallica have been sold worldwide, making it the best-selling album in the band's discography and one of the best-selling in the history of metal. According to the Nielsen SoundScan organization, the disc appeared on the Billboard chart for 560 weeks — it ranks 4th in this indicator. Five singles were released in support of him: "Enter Sandman", "The Unforgiven", "Nothing Else Matters", "Wherever I May Roam" and "Sad but True", each of which charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
