Jan Akkerman is a Dutch guitarist. He first gained international commercial success with the band Focus. The original came out his album "Tabernakel" (1974, Atlantic Records), reflecting the passion Akkerman lute, and lute music. The CD was recorded Akkerman in collaboration with the American composer, Professor at Columbia University George Flynn. It was presented by the interpretation of ancient dances for lute, and a number of his own works Akkerman and Flynn. The drums played Tim Bogart (bass) and Carmine Appice (drums) from the band CACTUS. The album has been praised by leading music publications.
