The American original. The Grand Illusion is the seventh studio album by Styx. Recorded at Paragon Recording Studios in Chicago, the album was released on July 7, 1977. The release made a splash all over the world: three million copies were sold in the US alone (Triple Platinum). According to some estimates, the album has sold more than 6 million copies. The album made the band popular and spawned the hit singles "Come Sail Away" and "Fooling Yourself".
