Eduard Nikolaevich Artemyev (born. 30 November 1937 in Novosibirsk, Russia) — Soviet and Russian composer. People's artist of the Russian Federation (1999). Four-time laureate of the State prize of the Russian Federation (1993, 1995, 1999, 2017). Laureate of the State prize of the RSFSR (1988). Widely known as the author of the music for the films of Andrei Tarkovsky, Nikita Mikhalkov and Andrei Konchalovsky. The soundtrack to "Solaris" presents a choral prelude by Johann Sebastian Bach for organ Ich ruf 'zu dir, Herr to Jez Christ , BWV 639 performed by Leonid Roizman , and an electronic score by Eduard Artemyev . Despite the name, this release is actually newer recording, and completely different from the original soundtrack 1972.
