The Ragpicker's Dream is the third solo studio album by British singer, songwriter and guitarist Mark Knopfler, released on September 30, 2002 on the international label Mercury Records and Warner Bros. Records in the USA. Upon release, the album received generally positive reviews. Mark Freuder Knopfler is a British singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer. He became known as the lead guitarist, singer and songwriter of the rock band Dire Straits. He embarked on a solo career after the band first broke up in 1988. Dire Straits reunited in 1990, but broke up again in 1995. He is now an independent solo artist.
