Blackstar is the twenty-fifth and final studio album by British musician David Bowie, released on January 8, 2016, on the singer's 69th birthday. Two days after the album's release, David Bowie died of cancer. The album received positive reviews from music critics and after the death of the musician for the first time in his career debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. In 2017, the album won the Grammy Award in the category "Best Alternative Album".
