Scary Monsters is the fourteenth studio album by David Bowie, released in September 1980 on RCA Records. The album was highly acclaimed by critics; Record Mirror rated it seven stars out of five. "Scary Monsters" became #1 in the UK charts, thus becoming the first album since "Diamond Dogs" to reach the top of the charts. In the US, the album was # 12. This was the highest position for Bowie albums in the US since "Low", released four years earlier. In 2000, Q magazine ranked " Scary Monsters "at #30 on its list of the"100 Greatest British Albums of All Time". In 2002, Pitchfork Media ranked the album at #93 on its list of the"100 Best Albums of the 1980s".
