Sailing to Philadelphia is the second solo studio album by British singer, songwriter and guitarist Mark Knopfler, released on September 26, 2000 on the international label Vertigo Records and Warner Bros. Records in the USA. The album features vocals by James Taylor, Van Morrison, Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook from Squeeze. Mark Freuder Knopfler is a British singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer. He became known as the lead guitarist, singer and songwriter of the rock band Dire Straits. He embarked on a solo career after the band first broke up in 1988. Dire Straits reunited in 1990, but broke up again in 1995. He is now an independent solo artist.
